Albert & the Cucarachas

I did the initial 2D Character Design for these six characters as well as seven others that appear later in the tale. Each character has a well developed set of traits, skills and interests. I also created the cover art for the graphic novel.

Albert & the Cucarachas creator Derrick Cameron is currently open to partnering with industry producers to complete the next phase.

It's Summer Down Under, Yabbies for Dinner!

As we in the northern hemisphere edge closer to winter those down under look forward to a season of outdoor activities. Yabby is the term used by Australians for a freshwater crustacean similar to what in the USA is variously termed crawdads, crawfish or crayfish, depending on the region.

Doing Hard Time on the Bad Green Bench
This sequential art work is a departure from the range of tones contained in my works to date. While I generally shy away from directly addressing current social or political items (and this story does take place in 1966) the general subject is still a matter of sensitivity and pain in our society today. This is not a children's story even though most of the characters are children. This is not a feel good story and not a subtle dance of words and images that encourage the viewer to take away their own interpretations. My best description is that this is a discomfiting story presented with the thought that no one's voice should be silenced concerning events that are influential in their path through life. My hope is that the value of this story is as a starting point for meaningful discussion.

Cultural Bridging

After many years as an Adobe user I recently acquired the Affinity Suite v2. This is my first illustration created using Affinity Photo. The learning curve was not overly steep and Affinity Photo has the ability to open and to export as all of the common file formats including .psd, so there are no worries regarding compatibility with any print or web uses. I look forward to creating many more illustrations with my new software.

stevefeldman.com is live
The newest iteration of stevefeldman.com is up and running. I'm not much of a web designer but anyone who has dabbled in the art knows it is almost impossible to please everyone. With that in mind I have specifically geared this site to those with higher resolution tablets, laptops and desktop monitors. Since what I feature are my images which are better seen at larger size, those trying to view the site on a smart phone or low resolution screen may be disappointed. Also, in the interest of providing the most stable, functional and efficient viewing experience I have prioritized humans over search engines.
I will be adding content and doing general tightening up on an ongoing basis. Feel free to send me an email letting me know of any missing or broken links, misspellings, or any other glitches you find. Enjoy your visit!

Social Distancing Required
Here we are at the beginning of 2022 and Covid-19 is still a daily news item. Mandates, regulations and suggested precautions change at a dizzying rate. This illustration shows masked movie goers social distancing as they stand in line to purchase tickets to see a pandemic related horror movie.
